WordPress Child Theming Twenty Seventeen

I’ve child themed the stock WordPress themes for years, but Twenty Seventeen is by far my favorite. My most recent project, DJ Snick at Night, included these customizations:

  • As @import is no longer a best practice, I enqueued Twenty Seventeen and my child theme stylesheets
  • Added a custom SVG for an unsupported social link, Mixcloud (look at the footer)
  • Leveraged Google Fonts for the .site-title
  • Used an if/else statement to hide the header image on subpages
